NCSD Sportsmanship Champion Awards Celebration!

Throughout the school year, these student-athletes demonstrate the outstanding qualities of leadership, fairness, strong character, teamwork, and compassion. Their commitment to excellence extends beyond the scoreboard, as they lead by example in their classrooms, communities, and teams.

During the celebration, students reflected on what good sportsmanship meant to them. Respecting your teammates and others, attitude & effort, and having fun while competing were common thoughts shared by students and coaches alike. Mr. Terry Hooker, NCSD's Athletic Director, shared his appreciation for celebrating student-athletes and coaches for over 15 years with this highly-regarded event. “A sportsmanship lifestyle involves modeling leadership, encouragement, understanding, patience, self-control, courage, honesty, integrity, confidence, humility, and compassion. The outcome, win or lose, is not the reward. The reward comes from the good things you have done and will do between the start and finish of every day. It is a lifestyle of doing the ordinary in an extraordinary good way, seeking to meet and exceed expectations while knowing it's how you play the game and live your life that’s most important.”

Thank you to the NCSD Athletics & Activities Department for their commitment to celebrating student-athletes and coaches. A special note of appreciate to Mr. Terry Hooker, NCSD's Athletic and Activities Director, whose commitment to celebrating students, staff, and sportsmanship is reflected in this event and throughout his career at NCSD.
