Safe2Tell Wyoming Provides Safe Way to Report Concerns

Casper- Natrona County School District launched the Safe2Tell app. in partnership with the Wyoming School and Safety Office in October of 2016. Since that time, Google and Apple analytics show approximately 2675 downloads of the Safe2Tell Wyoming app.

Bill Morse, the Safe2Tell Wyoming Program Manager, said “The support of the Safe2Tell Wyoming program by districts, law enforcement and communities has been outstanding. Natrona County School District, as well as other districts and communities, see the value in the program and the importance of early intervention.”

Safe2Tell Wyoming provides a safe confidential way for students, parents and community members to report concerns about their well-being, safety or the safety of others.

The Safe2Tell program was developed specifically to encourage those with information about a possible event to report it. All reports are confidential, with the reporter’s identity protected, and each tip is followed up on to determine what action, if any was taken.

Tips can be reported by phone using a toll free number, by accessing the Safe2Tell Wyoming website, or by utilizing the mobile app available for apple and android devices. These tips are answered 24/7 by the Wyoming Highway Patrol Communications Center which has the ability to provide two-way dialogue with the reporter.

Once the information is received, all information is passed along to local responders for appropriate interruptions and interventions. Tips submitted give schools a way to gather key information about safety concerns and use this information to create effective interventions in the lives of students.

Safe2Tell Wyoming raises awareness of the issues facing young people today and empowers them to be part of the solution.
