P.S. – Even More NCSD Staff News!

It’s National Substitute Appreciation Week!

The week of May 3rd is National Substitute Appreciation Week!   This is a great opportunity to thank our substitutes for their hard work. Substituting in any position is an incredibly challenging job that requires adaptability, patience and a diverse skill set. Our subs are a talented group of hard working people and I hope that all of you will take time not just this week, but throughout the year, to thank our subs and offer them your support and friendship.  So far this year our substitutes have filled over 17,000 positions in our district in everything from the classroom to the cafeteria.   Thank you to all of our NCSD Substitutes!

Casper Classical Academy Teacher Receives Award

Jackie O’Briant from Casper, WY, has received a Lucile Cornetet Individual Award for professional development from The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation. This award will enable Jackie to attend the Scholarship and Performance: A Combined Approach to Teaching Shakespeare’s Plays.  Lynna Gene Cook, Chair of the Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, stated that The Foundation awards approximately $50,000 annually to outstanding educators to enable them to attend professional activities in their respective fields.

A bequest to The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International from the Lucile Cornetet estate was the basis for establishing the Lucile Cornetet Professional Development Fund in 2005. Miss Cornetet, a long-time educator and Society member in Ohio, died in 2001.

The Educational Foundation supports and encourages intercultural understanding and educational excellence. Established in 1964, the Foundation is a non-profit organization located in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Headquarters in Austin, Texas. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, established in 1929, is an honor organization for women educators in 18 countries.
