21st Annual Wyoming Reads!

On Tuesday, First Graders from across Casper came together to celebrate literacy at the 21st Annual Wyoming Reads! John Jorgensen established the Sue Jorgensen Library Foundation in 1996 and founded the Casper Cares, Casper Reads festival to honor his late wife’s commitment to children and reading. The celebration was expanded statewide as Wyoming Reads in 2006.

“Sue was always very dedicated to children and to literacy,” says John. “She believed that literacy was the foundation for everything in life.” That vision continues to fuel this community literacy initiative.

School Supply Update

The Natrona County School District, in partnership with parents, guardians, and our community, is committed to providing a quality education to all students while remaining fiscally responsible with the funds provided to us by our state and local community.

Beginning with the next academic year, parents and guardians will no longer be required or asked to purchase school supplies for their students. School Supply lists will not be sent home or distributed. The Board of Trustees has provided additional funds to each school to purchase school supplies for all students.

We are grateful for the support of our community and appreciate all those who partner with us to provide students in Natrona County with the resources and materials needed for them to come to school ready to learn. We have started work towards identifying avenues for schools to purchase school supplies from local retailers.

Back to school is an exciting time of the year for students and families! Some parents and guardians may wish to continue to purchase school supplies, we absolutely support and understand the desire to do so. There will not be restrictions on your student bringing needed school supplies to school. Look for more information on this in our Back To School communications shared in August. Additionally, if parents and guardians are interested in contributing to the classroom, we say – THANK YOU! Kleenex are always at the top of a teacher’s list! 🙂

Thank you for your continued partnership in creating exceptional learning environments for all students. We appreciate you.
