NCSD Parent News – March 27, 2020

March 27, 2020

Today, March 27th, 2020, Governor Gordon, extended the Statewide Public Health Orders through April 17th. This includes the continued closure of Natrona County School District schools and buildings.

Often times, the right decision is the hardest. The enormity of this decision is not lost on us. The impact on students, families, staff members, our community, and our everyday life is significant. However, we must always place the safety and health of students, staff, school families, and our community as our highest priority.

We must continue forward and we know together, we can overcome the challenges placed before us.

Starting the week of Monday, April 6th, students will be engaged in required coursework and learning. This may be in a variety of formats, to support all students, including digital learning, mailed/printed packets, video chats, phone calls, and more. Many more details, support resources, and direct information on the next steps will be forthcoming from your school’s principal and your child’s teachers.

We have been proactively engaged in preparation for this direction and we will continue this dedicated work next week. We will be actively sharing more detailed information and direction in the immediate future with students, staff, parents, and all affected stakeholders.

Understandably, this news may place unintended hardships on parents and guardians. We are asking for your help and support in continuing the education of your children. We understand it may be difficult. We are working diligently to do all we can to continue to support students, staff, and school families as, together, we navigate these unprecedented times.

We are asking you to assist us by completing the Technology Needs Survey for your household at the following link: http://lf-web-portal.ncsd.k12.wy.us/Forms/ncsdPrntTechSurvey This survey will be open throughout the remainder of today, March 27th, 2020.

If you are unable to access the survey or need technical support in doing so, please call 307-253- 5200 and leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible.

We will continue working in direct collaboration with the Casper Natrona County Public Health Department, the Wyoming Department of Health, the Natrona County Emergency Management Office, the Wyoming Department of Education, and other local, state, and federal expert agencies to monitor information and updates as related to the Coronavirus.

We appreciate the patience and support of our students, staff, and school families as we all work together to ensure continued student academic success and health and safety for all.
