NCSD Updates and Information on Coronavirus

The safety of our students, staff, and school families remains our top priority.

We will continue working in direct collaboration with the Casper Natrona County Public Health Department, the Wyoming Department of Health, the Natrona County Emergency Management Office, the Wyoming Department of Education, and other local, state, and federal expert agencies to monitor information and updates as related to the Coronavirus.

We appreciate the patience and support of our community as we all work together to keep our schools, families, and community safe.

K-12 Educational Resources for Continued Academic Engagement

We are dedicated to sharing educational resources to families during this time to assist in keeping students active and engaged in educational opportunities while keeping their health and safety as the highest priority.

These educational opportunities are not required for grading purposes during the March 16th-April 5th, 2020 closure. These activities are opportunities for review and practice.

We greatly appreciate all parents and guardians for your continued dedication to keeping your child engaged in academic opportunities. Your partnership is critical for continued student success, thank you. We truly are #BetterTogether

NCSD Assessment Update

Wyoming State Superintendent, Jillian Balow, recently announced that the U.S. Department of Education has granted Wyoming a waiver from certain federal assessment and accountability requirements in light of the widespread school closures due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  As a result, the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will suspend WY-ALT testing and cancel WY-TOPP summative testing for the 2019-20 school year.

Natrona County School District (NCSD) is working directly with WDE to explore options for students to participate in the ACT.  Based on the recommendation from WDE, NCSD will move the scheduled test date from April 7 to April 21.  If we are unable to administer the test at that time, NCSD will continue to work collaboratively with WDE to determine a possible alternative date for state testing.  WDE is also working with ACT to investigate a voucher process to give students, schools, and districts an opportunity to leverage national testing dates should they not be able to use the state testing dates. The tests given on national testing dates will provide college-reportable scores for students.

Thank you again for your patience and support. We will continue to provide updated information related to any changes in assessments/testing as it becomes available.

Kids do well with this,” he said. “It is not that age group I’m worried about.” I’m actually appalled at that statement given today by the MD. We should be worried about ALL age groups. Seems like it’s not being taken seriously when it comes to “kids” because they do well with it? Kids have died for gosh sakes.
