NCSD Parent News – March 17, 2020

March 17, 2020

The safety of our students, staff, and school families remains our top priority. We appreciate the patience and support of our community as we all work together to keep our schools, families, and community safe.

Based on the recommendation of Governor Gordon and State Superintendent Jillian Balow, all NCSD schools and buildings will be closed March 16th through April 5th, 2020.

We will continue working in direct collaboration with the Casper Natrona County Public Health Department, the Wyoming Department of Health, the Natrona County Emergency Management Office, the Wyoming Department of Education, and other local, state, and federal expert agencies to monitor information and updates as related to the Coronavirus.

The Natrona County School District will not be extending the school year as a result of the March 16th through April 5th, 2020 closure.

Graduation ceremonies will continue as scheduled at this time. The COVID19 situation is rapidly evolving and we will continue to evaluate operational direction for NCSD and within our community events. There has not been a determination to reschedule or cancel graduation ceremonies.

Effective tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, all NCSD employees are back on duty – this will be a “work from home” model for many employees. School and NCSD buildings will remain closed through April 5th, 2020.

We are confident in the exceptional ability of all employees to continue to maintain effective services for students and school families while keeping a commitment to their individual health and safety.

We are dedicated to continuing to provide as much academic support as possible to students and families during this time. Teachers and staff will continue sharing information and resources via school social media platforms, emails to parents/guardians, and other communication platforms to assist in keeping your children active and engaged in educational opportunities while keeping their health and safety as the highest priority.

We greatly appreciate parents and guardians for your continued dedication to keeping your child engaged in academic opportunities during this closure. Your partnership during this time is critical for continued student success.

As the situation around COVID19 is rapidly evolving, proactive and precautionary planning is underway by NCSD in order to identify a variety of options for continued learning and success throughout the remainder of the school year.

We will continue to provide updated information, as it is available, for students, parents/guardians, staff, and our community.

Please follow or visit the below communication avenues for the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding NCSD operations:

  • Email/Text/Phone calls (as applicable) will be sent to parents/guardians and staff with any NCSD updates
  • NCSD Website – at www.natronaschools.org

We are asking families to please follow the guidelines as identified by Casper Natrona County Health Department, Centers for Disease and Control, and other health experts in regards to social distancing and other health & safety guidelines.

The safety of our students, staff, and school families remains our top priority. We appreciate the patience and support of our community as we all work together to keep our schools, families, and community safe.
