NCSD Kindergarten Enrollment Update

The Natrona County School District has been actively monitoring enrollment, specifically at the kindergarten level, on a continual basis throughout the year. Targeted efforts have been made for the placement of students and to honor the Open Enrollment process for families.

At this time, we have incoming Kindergarten students without a placement. Understandably, some families have chosen to wait for an opening at one of the schools they chose during the Open Enrollment process. We absolutely understand the desire to do so.

Throughout the summer we have been working with principals, staff, and families to place Kindergarten students. Often times, families move out of the District over the summer, thus creating openings.

As the school year approaches, we have identified solutions moving forward to help assist in the placement process for families.

Kindergarten class sizes will be increased to 19:1. This is an increase of 1 student per classroom.

We will open another section (classroom) of Kindergarten at Bar Nunn Elementary.

Over the next few days, our Enrollment office will be working together with schools, principals, and families to continue to provide placement opportunities. We are looking forward to a great school year and greatly appreciate our parents, staff, and community for their partnership in creating exceptional learning environments for all students.
