During the July 10th, 2019, Budget Hearing, the Natrona County School District Fiscal Year 2020 Annual Budget was voted on and adopted by the Board of Trustees.

The budget sets the financial framework for the district to meet its strategic goals. The Board Budget development process is guided by the following priorities:

  • Achieve operational efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Maintain a competitive compensation package
  • Maintain facilities to avoid the effects of deferred maintenance and ensure safe and secure environments

The Natrona County School District, in partnership with all stakeholders, is committed to providing a quality education to all students while remaining fiscally responsible with the funds provided to us by our state and local community.

Special Depreciation Reserve

During 2018-19, the Board of Trustees established a special depreciation reserve within the Capital Projects Fund. The purpose of the special depreciation reserve is to set aside dollars for future replacement and repair of major capital, specifically facilities. This reserve will be utilized for needed maintenance and repairs to assist in keeping our schools and buildings safe and secure while providing an exceptional learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

School Allocations

NCSD utilizes a “decentralized” budget process which allows for funds to be provided to each school. This process allows for the school budget team, composed of various stakeholders, to prioritize and utilize the funds in the best way possible for their individual school.

Parents and guardians will no longer be required to purchase school supplies, or pay classroom/school fees, for their students. The Board of Trustees has provided additional funds to each school to purchase the needed school supplies for all students. We are committed to ensuring all students in Natrona County have the resources and material available to them to come to school #ReadyToLearn

There is no intent by the Natrona County School District Board of Trustees to have a personal financial burden placed on teachers or staff members for the purchase of school supplies as a result of this process. If at any time during the school year a need for additional school supplies is identified, we encourage teachers to visit with their school administrator to work together to identify a solution as part of the School Budget Team process.

While the operational side of the process is still being identified by the individual school budget teams, we have provided a list of local retailers and vendors for school teams to consider as they begin making school supply purchases.

#BacktoSchool is an exciting time of the year for students and families! Some parents and guardians may wish to continue to purchase school supplies, we absolutely support and understand the desire to do so.

Additionally, we recognize the great importance of community in our schools. The Natrona County School District Board of Trustees will eliminate charging admissions to school Athletic and Activity events beginning with the next academic year.

Our families and community members greatly contribute to the schools each day and are truly our #PartnersInEducation

Employee Retirement Savings

NCSD invested in employee retirement savings by identifying appropriate one-time dollars to increase contributions to employee 457b accounts managed by the Wyoming Retirement System.

Competitive Employee Compensation

NCSD launched a comprehensive position classification and compensation study to continue its commitment to ensuring employee compensation is competitive.

The Natrona County School District Board of Trustees greatly appreciates our valued staff, parents, and community for their partnership in assisting us towards our mission to empower every learner to grow, excel and be a successful contributor to the local and global community.
