NCSD Transportation Snow Stops & Inclement Weather Information

Natrona County School District recognizes that school is an important part of community and family life. As a result, schools will be closed for inclement weather or natural disasters only when the community itself is unable to operate safely. Primary factors considered are adverse weather conditions and the safe transportation of students and staff.

Winter weather conditions are typical throughout the colder months in our community. All efforts are made to keep schools open while ensuring students and staff can get to and from school safely. Our District Inclement Weather team meets frequently with community partners such as the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Natrona County Emergency Management, National Weather Service, City of Casper – Road and Bridge Department, and many others to plan and prepare for potential inclement weather. This collective team works days in advance to proactively plan for upcoming inclement weather, as well as through the night and into the early morning, to determine the best course of action for school operations.

Communications are sent out via text and a phone call by approximately 5:30 a.m. from NCSD Public Relations in the case of inclement weather. News agencies will be contacted to send a message to the community. Updates will also be posted on NCSD Facebook and website

    • If the District is closed for Inclement Weather – all District activities/events are also canceled.
    • If weather projections are anticipated to get worse throughout the day, there may be changes or cancellations to after-school events or activities even if school operations have not been canceled. Please check with your child’s school or event sponsor for specific school/activity/athletic information.
