Frontier Middle School Named State Finalist in the $2 million Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest

School will receive two Samsung Galaxy® Tabs and the opportunity to win additional prizes

Casper, WY, November 13, 2015 – Frontier Middle School announced today that it has become a Wyoming state finalist in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest, a nationwide competition to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by challenging teachers and students to take topics out of traditional classroom settings and into local communities.

“STEM is all about team work and using the Engineering Design Process to solve real world problems. My seventh/eighth grade STEM class brainstormed ideas and submitted our plan to Samsung. If selected as the state finalist, we will be honored and inspired to help the community with our plan to create a community fridge to cut down on food waste and feed the hungry” said teacher Lizzy Hede.

Frontier Middle School is one of five schools in Wyoming to become a state finalist in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest. During the next phase of the competition, Mrs. Hede’s STEM class will create a lesson plan to address the issue in an educational setting. 51 state winners will be announced in December.

This is Frontier’s first time as a state finalist in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest.
