Kelly Walsh High School Marching Band Excels at State and Regional Competitions

The Kelly Walsh High School “Trojan Marching Band” has finished its competitive marching band season with extraordinary success in multiple events over the last month. Their impressive skills, determination, hard work, and countless hours of practice and rehearsal culminated with the band winning the University of Wyoming Marching Band Competition and recording their 15th straight superior rating at the Wyoming State Marching Band Festival.

On October 19th, 2024, the KWHS Trojans joined twenty-one exceptionally talented band programs from around the state for the highly-anticipated and showstopping Wyoming State Marching Band Festival.  For the 15th consecutive year, the Kelly Walsh High School Band earned the esteemed highest-ranking superior rating, which is the longest streak in the State. The Trojans swept the caption awards, receiving recognition for their outstanding performance in all five statistical categories, including Percussion, Color Guard, Marching, Music, & Winds. Their unique achievement of being the only school in Wyoming to receive all five caption awards is awe-inspiring.

On October 5th, 2024, the Kelly Walsh High School “Trojan Marching Band” performed at the annual marching band competition hosted at War Memorial Stadium on the University of Wyoming Campus in Laramie. Hosted by the University of Wyoming “Western Thunder” Marching Band and the Casper Troopers Drum & Bugle Corp, this highly competitive marching band event highlights the work and talent of remarkable student musicians and educators across the region. The Kelly Walsh High School Band earned the top honor, winning the 1st place trophy and sweeping the captions by securing the highest scores in the Percussion and Auxiliary categories. This marks the third consecutive year that the Trojan Marching Band has won the event and swept the caption awards.

Directed by Brent Rose, Assistant Director Sarah Hanson, Percussion Instructor Michael Broyles, and Color Guard Instructor Tori Misak, these dedicated and highly talented students work diligently to perfect, fine-tune, and excel in their musical capabilities and showmanship.

On the field, the band is under the direction of Drum Majors Giselle Moreno, Tyler Mailloux, and Parker Bartlett, whose collective commitment to leading their peers is pivotal to their overall success. Guiding their peers through rigorous rehearsals with a deep understanding of the music and choreography, drum majors inspire their fellow band members to strive for excellence. The hard work, talent, and unwavering enthusiasm of the KWHS Marching Band students not only elevate the quality of their performances but also create lasting memories and friendships that extend beyond the field and classroom.

"I am proud to see the KW Marching Band earning recognition as one of the strongest in the region. The students feel a giant responsibility to perform at a high level, and our band staff is beyond pleased to see them continue that great success. We worked very hard on visual imagery and helping manifest the performance we knew they were capable of. The KW Band has made the city of Casper proud," shared Brent Rose, KWHS Director of Bands.

Kelly Walsh High School is committed to preparing all students for their next step by creating high expectations, academic rigor, and personal responsibility.

Exceptional work, Trojans!
