Families and community members gathered under the planetarium dome to be transported to the vast expanse of space, where the moon, Earth's faithful companion, took center stage. NCSD’s expert and resident astronomers guided this lunar exploration, unraveling the mysteries of the moon's phases, craters, and the captivating allure of the lunar surface for all those in attendance. Clear skies made for excellent telescope observing. Engaging activities, interactive displays, and captivating storytelling provided an extraordinary educational evening, fostering a sense of curiosity and awe for all.
The Casper Planetarium is Wyoming's oldest planetarium and has continuously operated since 1966. Sporting the latest digital planetarium technology from Digitalis Education Solutions, the planetarium is Casper's virtual starship and time machine. As a part of the Natrona County School District, the Casper Planetarium's primary focus is the support of the K-12 curriculum standards in science. The NCSD Planetarium supports the classroom curriculum with shows, lessons, and activities designed to meet grade-level standards.
