Pathways Innovation Center Fuses With Local Industry Experts on 2023 Welding Day!

Industry experts from across the community donated their time, expertise, and the use of their mobile welding and cutting equipment to help students learn and obtain additional skills and experience. We would like to share our appreciation to Terry Dye with DD Welding, Aaron Acuma with ADA Welding, and Robert Keenan with Compression Leasing for making this exceptional learning experience a success!

The collaboration between industry and education allowed students to network with local professionals while providing exposure to learning opportunities not available in the classroom. Throughout the day, students worked with and learned from these professionals on equipment that is utilized in the field for beveling pipe, repairing, and fabricating. With the intention of giving students exposure to another subgroup of welders that are in the field, not in a booth but working outside off the back of a truck, this opportunity provides a “real-life” learning experience. With this partnership, students were able to move from theoretical to practical, a learning experience that can’t be duplicated in a classroom.

Through the leadership and professional expertise of high school teachers Kyle Corley, Kyle Dye, Jon Vance, Scott Schutte, and Kris Newman, the Manufacturing program of study at Pathways Innovation Center provides students with certifications, industry-standard training, and next-level learning opportunities.

NCSD is committed to working to develop and engage in community partnerships that foster a climate of academic success, post-secondary readiness, and future career opportunities for all students. “The Casper community has been wonderful in the manner we connect with industry, business, and students. In fact, in my experience, when reaching out to community partners, we’ve always heard a resounding “yes” when inquiring about collaboration opportunities,” shared Guy Sallade, NCSD Career Facilitator. “This community goes above and beyond in the help they are willing to provide to our students. It’s truly remarkable.”
