Journey Elementary Heroes Celebrate Learning Engagement with NEW StoryWalk and Musical Installations!

The Journey Elementary StoryWalk is modeled after a project created by Anne Ferguson and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. Ginny Nading, Journey Elementary Librarian, spearheaded the exceptional project. “Ginny was the driving force behind this magnificent project. Her vision for an innovative and interactive learning environment and her relentless organization and coordination is the bedrock upon which these installations stand today,” shared Principal Taylor-Logan.

Throughout the school year, pages from children’s books will be printed and placed in the displays along the walkable path accessible to all stakeholders to enjoy. “Families have fun reading aloud together and building children’s interest in reading while enjoying the health benefits of exercise,” shared Ginny Nading.

In addition to their StoryWalk, students now have an additional outdoor opportunity to explore their musical talents and interests with Journey’s Percussion Play installation. This exciting new activity has several musical instruments that students can learn throughout the year, and community members can enjoy when they visit the school.

“We are not merely opening installations, but we are unveiling platforms for imagination, creativity, and curiosity to blossom,” shared Principal Taylor-Logan. “Our journey, much like a StoryWalk, started with one page, one idea, and continued, fueled by the steadfast dedication of our students who tirelessly raised funds, proving yet again the power of unity and community. Our student body has demonstrated the power of belief, drive, and perseverance. Their relentless efforts have breathed life into these projects, and for that, we are incredibly proud and thankful.”

Journey Elementary is committed to providing an engaging learning environment for students based on differentiated instruction!

Great job, Heroes!
