The Kelly Walsh "Trojan" Marching Band performed their 2022 production; Pandora: Chaos Unleashed, magically telling the story of Pandora's Box in the 14th Annual UW/Trooper Marching Band Invitational held at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming. Hosted by the Western Thunder Marching Band and the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, 16 terrific and talented bands attended from Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska.
The Kelly Walsh High School Trojan Marching Band took home first place, scoring 81 percent of the total possible score, earning them the sole rating of Superior. Additionally, these talented Trojans earned all caption awards for best percussion and color guard. Scores are determined by a panel of expert judges in the areas of Music, Visual, Percussion, and Color Guard.
Students worked throughout the summer to prepare the show for competition. Their final Wyoming performance will be in our own backyard as they take the stage at the Wyoming State Marching Festival this Saturday, October 15th, at the Ford Wyoming Center. The event starts at 12:00 PM, and Kelly Walsh High School performs at 5:45 PM.
"The Kelly Walsh Band plays an important role in our school as they truly encompass all for pillars of excellence," shared Principal Britt with pride and admiration for their dedication, talent, and character. "They put in countless hours of practice to put on a great performance and it shows at all their events throughout the year from halftime performances, competitions, and festivals. They're incredible representatives of our school and community!"
The Kelly Walsh Band will finish their competitive season in American Fork, UT, on October 22nd. They will compete against five other bands in the 5A Open division and thirty-nine total bands across all divisions.
