KWHS Qualifies for "We the People"

Kelly Walsh High School's AP U.S. Politics and Government class placed 2nd at the State "We the People" competition on January 23rd in Cheyenne at the State Capitol Building. The class qualified to compete at the State Competition along with 5 other schools at the congressional district level competition held in Casper in December. The class presented position statements in over six units involving the origins, application, and interpretation of the United States Constitution and then have a dialogue with the judges. The judges were allowed to question the students extensively about the topic of the position statement to determine their knowledge and understanding of the relevant concepts. The State competition requires each unit to go through two rounds of this process.
