NCSD Announces Medallion Winners and Excelling Schools

Twelve individuals and two teams have been selected as recipients of the Natrona County School District’s 2011-12 Medallion of Excellence awards at the Celebration of Excellence.

The awards program honors NCSD employees, nominated by their peers, for their exemplary service to students and the district. The awards program is aligned to the district’s goals and requires a nomination essay, as well as two letters of support, for each nominee.

This year’s winners are:

Award recipients will receive an engraved bronze medallion in honor of their award. All winners will have portraits taken for the Medallion of Excellence display at Central Services.

Also at this event, 11 excelling schools will be recognized for their outstanding performance.

The award recipients and excelling schools will be honored at the Celebration of Excellence awards banquet Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at the Best Western Ramkota in Casper. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available at 5 p.m., and the awards program will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Medallion of Excellence program began in 1997 to honor outstanding employees in the Natrona County School District. Its mission continues today through the Celebration of Excellence, as the program now also honors those excelling schools.

Criteria for the Medallion honor was established in 2008 to align with the district’s goals, which include:

Literate Students: All NCSD students will read at grade level by the end of third grade.

Excelling Schools: NCSD will perform in the top 10 percent of all Wyoming districts on statewide assessments.

Prepared Graduates: All NCSD students will graduate from high school and be prepared for college and/or a high-skills career.

Safe, Healthy People: NCSD will maintain environments that are physically and mentally safe and healthy for everyone.

Efficient, Effective Operations: NCSD will be efficient and effective in its operations and classrooms.
