“Standing for Excellence Through Growth & Kindness”
Southridge School balances fundamentals with innovative programming, always challenging students to succeed at their current level of ability. Three expectations govern everything at Southridge: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe – for self, for others, and for property. The school believes students, parents, staff, and the greater community share in the responsibility of learning. More than 40 staff members interact with over 300 K-5 students each day.
Seventy-two percent of the certified staff have more than 15 years of teaching experience and/or hold Masters Degrees or higher. Students have access to tutoring services and are provided remediation and/or enrichment opportunities as part of their daily instruction.
Southridge uses a math program that provides technology integration, real-life problem-solving experiences and connections between math and writing. The reading framework provides intense, systematic instruction in five critical skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade spend up to two hours each day in reading instruction and activities. All students improve writing skills by focusing on the adopted Wyoming State Writing Standards. Students also write frequently as they learn to read. They experience science through an emphasis on place-based education, where learning happens in nature as much as from books.
Students may choose to participate in Robotics Club, Superstar Academy, P.E. Club, Art Club, Student Council, Homework Club, and All-City Band and Orchestra. Fourth and fifth grade students may participate in volleyball and basketball through the Casper Recreation Center.
Southride is a family school. We have many parent volunteers, an active PTO, and other opportunities for parent involvement.
The opening bell at Southridge rings at 8:45 a.m., while the dismissal bell rings at 3:30 p.m. Breakfast is available before school.
