“We believe in safety, teamwork, accountability, respect.”
Sagewood provides an environment where students feel comfortable, safe and accepted. Open communication between parents, teachers and students encourages a sense of teamwork and cooperation. The school acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of students and staff in learning and leadership. Sagewood also appreciates and values diversity, self-worth and integrity.
The Sagewood community focuses on increased student achievement with the intent to promote student success and prepare students for the future. The curriculum promotes intellectual curiosity and creative thinking, while challenging students to reach their full potential. High levels of achievement are accomplished through measurable academic standards aligned with the major instructional goals. Interventions are in place to enrich and provide additional time and support.
Parents and community play an active role in the academic education and character development of the students. Partnerships among all stakeholders demonstrate the commitment to every learner being a champion.
Sagewood strives to provide each child with a complete knowledge of the basics of education needed to survive in a changing world. These basics include required skills in reading, math and language. When Sagewood students complete fifth grade, they will be able to read with comprehension, communicate intelligibly through writing and know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Sagewood implements a standards based instructional practice that is monitored and reported using standards based grading method. Students recieve differentiated instruction with rigorous expectations. We implement an inclusive environment with quality co-teaching practices. Our school-wide positive behavior support system includes the 8 Keys of Excellence and Bully-Proofing system. These practices have jointly supported Sagewood in achieving “Exceeding Expectations” on the Wyoming Accountability model in 2015 and 2016.
Students may participate in Student Council, Lego Robotics Club, academic clubs, and fine arts clubs. Fourth- and fifth-graders may participate in volleyball, basketball and track through the Casper Recreation Center.
Classes at Sagewood run from 8:50 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Breakfast is available before school.
