“At Manor Heights Elementary, we Believe we can work together as a learning community of students, families and staff to Achieve high levels of learning for all students so they will Succeed in school and in life.

Believe … Achieve … Succeed!”

Manor Heights Elementary provides a child-centered education through the implementation of essential learnings. The school, parents and community work in partnership to develop in each student academic excellence, social responsibility and personal integrity. Data-driven decisions, progress monitoring of skills, and collaborative efforts between all staff members contribute to the implementation of state and district standards. Tutors support learning with small group and one-to-one assistance throughout the school day, and an extended school day, Jaguar Club, provides assistance to students in the area of mathematics and language arts. Manor Heights’ learners will be able to access information through the appropriate use of written, oral and technological resources. The school also has fully implemented the positive behavior supports program.

Manor Heights uses the following curriculum resources to facilitate Common Core State Standards:

Reading – The Daily 5/CAFÉ structure is designed to provide students with whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to best meet the learning needs of each child. The basis of this framework enables teachers to deliver Common Core content through individual conferring, differentiated learning, and the comprehension thinking strategies to ensure student mastery of literacy skills.

Writing – Lucy Calkins Common Core aligned units of study are implemented throughout the Writer’s Workshop time. Students at Manor Heights also use grade level Writer’s Eye as well as the Step-up to Writing format.

Math – My Math and Number Corner are among the resources used to enhance a balance between conceptual understanding and procedural mastery of Common Core mathematical concepts. Student learning needs are met through written, hands-on, and technological experiences.

Students at Manor Heights also participate in art, music, library and P.E. classes throughout the day.

Students may participate in Drama Club, Eye to Eye, Good News Club, Guitar Club, Zentangle Club, Enrichment Club, Student Council, School Store, P.E./Fitness Club, Lego Robotics, Peer Recess Buddies, Jaguar Readers and Extended School Day.
