Dean Morgan will focus on the total development of each child: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Social.”

Dean Morgan School operates under the “Eight Keys of Excellence” with the goal of empowering all learners and addressing the needs of the whole child. The school has maintained a long tradition of excellence while focusing on preparing students to be successful citizens.  Parents, students and staff members are encouraged to actively participate in the operation of the school. Dean Morgan’s schedule is an alternating block schedule, creating more opportunities for students to enroll in different courses each semester with longer instructional blocks of learning time. Efforts of continuous improvement have guided decisions to increase math instructional minutes and reduce class size in several areas. Dean Morgan’s Comet Block creates opportunities for skill practice in core areas while supporting successful student strategies. The school models and promotes staff visibility and accessibility, access to a variety of counseling services, academic excellence and promotes a set of principles that create a sense of purpose and unity.  Furthermore, Dean Morgan builds an environment conducive to meaningful learning, school-wide diversity, safety, proactive communication and healthy lifestyles.

During a Dean Morgan career, students are required to enroll in reading, language arts, math, science, social studies, physical education, computer applications and life skills. Differentiated levels of classes support students performing below, at and above grade level in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. Academic support includes tutoring in math and reading, Read180, and Math Extensions. Challenge courses are also an option in math, reading, language arts, science and social studies. Placement in these courses is dependent upon assessment results and historical academic success in one or more areas. Students may enroll in elective courses including: American Sign Language (ASL), art, woodshop, cultural studies, drama, leadership, Family and Consumer Science, technology, drafting, digital photography, Spanish, choir, band, guitar and orchestra.
