NCSD believes that all children learn at different paces and with different styles and motivations. Our schools address the needs of students of every ability level.
NCSD offers a self-contained elementary level gifted program at Pineview Elementary. This program serves students who need challenges beyond the regular classroom. The curriculum is thematic with many hands-on activities as well as authentic learning opportunities outside the classroom. Each classroom has an assistant and counseling services.
Each elementary school in Casper has either an enrichment program or enriched activities in an extended day. Activities may include competitions, acceleration, self-selected study through independent research, clubs, and thematic exploration of selected topics.
NCSD offers a GT middle level program at CY Middle School. Students in this program will have a variety of opportunities with courses, enrichment, and support to challenge them beyond regular courses. CY GT students have the option of taking all CORE classes in the self-contained classroom, or individual schedules can be created to allow a mix of GT, Advanced Summit, Regular, and the full array of electives including DestiNation Imagination; Robotics and Gaming; Spanish and German; and Orchestra, Band and Choir.
High school students have access to a variety of programs and opportunities to motivate and advance learning at Kelly Walsh High School, Natrona County High School, and the Pathways Innovation Center. These programs may include college classes for dual credit, acceleration, clubs of interest or special programming. Some schools have block scheduling, which enhances opportunities for students to advance at an individual pace.
