Nurses
School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaption, self management, self advocacy and learning.
We provide nursing care in our of our buildings with 20 full time Bachelors or Master's prepared professional nurses. Secondary schools have full time nurses assigned to their buildings and elementary schools have no more than two buildings assigned with several elementary schools with full time nurses. (Verda James, Cottonwood, Manor Heights, & Paradise Valley) We provide prevention education, trauma care, acute care and care to students with chronic condition.
