The Natrona County School District, supported by funding from the state of Wyoming, is embarking on a construction program that is expected to remodel or rebuild almost all of our schools for the future.
As of January 2008,
* A new Fort Caspar Academy is nearing completion.
* McKinley Elementary School has been demolished and a new Cottonwood Elementary School (the combination of McKinley and Westwood schools) is under construction on its former site.
* A new Poison Spider School is under construction on property adjacent to the current K-8 school.
* The former Fairdale Elementary School site has been converted into a new home for Star Lane Center.
* The Central Services Facility has been remodeled, creating a new home for Back on Track and the Safe Schools Suspension Lab, as well as a remodeled board room and expanded office space.
A construction schedule for current and upcoming projects is available here.
The new elementary school projects that were in previous plans are on hold pending analysis of the latest building assessment by the Wyoming School Facilities Commission. The district's Board Facilities Committee will analyze the latest SFC facility infrmation, collecting and prioritizing district interests as it develops a new facility plan to align with those interests.
