Pathways Innovation Center Update

Natrona County Schools recently announce that Mr. Ron Estes will be serving as Assistant Principal at Pathways Innovation Center at the beginning of the 2017-18 Academic year. He will be working directly with the combined leadership of Principal Harris (NCHS) and Principal Diller (KWHS). Mr. Estes has acted as assistant principal at Natrona County High School for the past 8 years.

NCSD’s High School Leadership team has been diligently working together with District officials to increase awareness, improve enrollment, and continue to develop ways to provide options for students to take advantage of the excellent educational opportunities provided at Pathways Innovation Center.

 

Board Construction Steering Committee Report

Trustee Ray Catellier presented the Board Construction Steering Committee report, which included updates regarding Midwest School:

Midwest Update

  • Geosyntec stated the mitigation system has been installed and is operating as expected from Geosyntec’s perspective.
  • The first round of testing revealed results below the action levels established by the Casper-Natrona County Health Department. The second round of samples collected in May also show acceptable levels. A third round of samples will be collected on June 15.
  • The plan for Midwest school to move from the Westwood building and PIC back to Midwest is also being coordinated.
  • Students and staff are expected to return to Midwest School beginning the 2017/18 Academic Year.

Adoption of Physical Education and Fine & Performing Arts Curriculums

As part of the District’s instructional model for developing and maintaining district-wide processes around curriculum, instruction, and assessment, new curriculums in the subject areas of Physical Education and Fine & Performing Arts were brought forward to the Board for approval. NCSD’s system aligns a standards-based curriculum and an aligned standards-based district assessment system to the Wyoming content standards and summative assessment structures.

The Board approved the curriculum. During discussion, Superintendent Hopkins shared a sincere appreciation of NCSD staff members who provided their time and expertise on the curriculum adoption.

 

Other items…

  • The Certified and Classified Personnel Report was approved.
  • District Bills and Consent Agenda items were voted on and approved.
  • The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held July 19th at 7:30 p.m. at NCSD’s Central Services Facility (970 N. Glenn Rd.)
