Trustees Discuss Bullying Policies and Procedures

During the work session trustees discussed the topic of bullying policies and procedures. Trustees identified areas for improvement moving forward which include: consistency across the District in investigations and disciplinary actions, transparency of district data and public communication, and identifying training/ education for students and staff about bullying.

As part of the ongoing discussion, trustees will continue to facilitate these areas for improvement during future board work sessions.

 

Britt Approved as New KWHS Principal; Ellbogen and Gilbar Named Executive Directors

By approval of the Certified and Classified Personnel Report, NCSD trustees approved the recommendations to name Mr. Mike Britt as the new principal at Kelly Walsh High School, Mr. Steve Ellbogen as an NCSD Executive Director, and Dr. Charlotte Gilbar as an NCSD Executive Director. Currently, Britt is the principal at Centennial Middle School, Ellbogen the principal at Dean Morgan Middle School, and Gilbar is NCSD’s Director of Assessment and Research.


In other news…

  • The second reading of a revision to Board Policy 1200 was approved by the Board. Board Policy 1200 identifies the cut-off time for district-sponsored activities for students on Wednesdays. The revision will extend the time cut-off from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for high school student activities.

  • Trustees approved a bid from Haass Construction Company for the build-out of NCHS’s MACC. The work will begin on the interior build-out as soon as the temporary classrooms are taken down. The demolition of the temporary classrooms was also approved by trustees at the meeting. The work will be performed by Recycled Materials LLC.

  • Trustees approved the Certified and Classified Personnel Report

  • The next scheduled Board meeting is February 26, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at NCSD’s Central Services Facility (970 N. Glenn Rd., Casper).
