Board Construction Steering Committee Meeting – March 3, 2017

The Board Construction Steering Committee (CSC) met on March 3, 2017. After approving the minutes from the February 17th meeting, the committee discussed the following items:

 

Midwest Update:

  • Doug Tunison gave a summary of the Town Hall meeting at Midwest from the prior evening (March 2). Estimate of 15-20 people were present, the mitigation contractor (Vapor Mitigation Sciences) gave a report on what the process is and what the final visible piping will look like. Reviewed the schedule for mitigation work; completed date is week of April 9, first round of air sampling will occur week of April 16, second round of air sampling will occur the following week.
  • The asbestos abatement prep work and abatement will run from week of May 1 through June 4. The HS wing repair from the broken pipe, will start week of June 4 and end July 3. The Midwest custodial staff can start cleaning of the other wings as early as June 7. School will be able to move in week of August 6.
  • During the Town Hall meeting the status of the pool was discussed, priority is the school, need to make sure that the pool equipment is in working order. Cost of pool repairs will be monitored.

 

Future Items Coming to the Board for Approval

Midwest Abatement Bid Award: Only two bidders submitted, Horsley Specialties Inc., Rapid City, SD $46,750 and Asbestos & Technical Services Inc., Cheyenne, WY $26,562. Recommendation is to award to Asbestos & Technical Services.

 

Project Construction Tours will resume in April (due to spring break). NCHS April 7, Bar Nunn April 14, Journey ES + PreSchool & CY Gyms renovation April 21

The next regularly scheduled meeting is Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at NCSD’s Central Services.
